week of my 21st birthday

dearest katie wingate,

i flew into wellesley saturday night of the 30th august of september. here are some pictures of the flight to boston for you, it's so weird to be here without you.

our friends have all changed and i think we've gotten closer. sometimes we randomly say, i miss katie wingate. for me its so odd to know that you are on the other side of the world. im both really happy for you and also really sad. its like when i imagine you in my head you are living such a glamorous life. any new and interesting characters?

it's friday night and i just came back from mark bollman's house? isn't that weird?? we saw dutch and some other characters but i wasn't feeling it. i went to the liquor store for the first time today because i wanted to get drunk so i went and bought tons of alcohol. the night before my birthday i went to emily evan's place and we got drunk and high, then the night of my birthday we went to eat at the met bar and grill with sara and rhea and kate kate and alex. i orderd my first drink off the menu which was a big deal since now the whole menu is open to me. when i realized that i didn't have to skip the cocktail section, that's when it finally dawned on me that im 21. to be honest, this is something that im really sad about since it means that im older and that there is not much more to look forward to. before i wanted to be older, and now all i want to be is younger. i wish that there was another monumental age for me to conquer. hello 60, i can be a senior citizen. at dinner i ordered a mango mojito in honor of our summer together. i drank it and missed you terribly. also today i took our friends to blue ribbon bbq and nobody really got it. they were all amazed that such place existed and i missed you soooo bad it hurt my heart and also i really missed texas. they just never have had that style of bbq before. i miss texas. also my flat rims are a sensation.

so here's some pictures. i could write you a novel. school is good. ive never been so in love with my classes before. two of them i love (genetics and comparative anatomy) with a passion. the other two make me hate school and life (chinese and physics).

i really should start showing you the pictures but, let me give you a quick update on our friends.

vandeveld: she's dating jake, but they are having a hard time long distance and it makes her really sad. also, she's still a lot of fun.

johnson: is now seeing lee and is tan and is an ra at tower. she's kicking ass in school and just got a 100 on her first orgo quiz. i know, im so proud of her too

soumya: is living off campus, but she is made available at all times. i see her a lot. for my birthday she got me weezer tickets and also chose the best strawberry birthday cake ive ever had. oh and i shared it with cecilia whose birthday was yesterday. cecilia, soums, our friend courtney, and i went and got manicures at this cute affordabel place that i will take you to once you come back. i got purple glittery nails and made them write 21 on my thumbs in honor of my birthday.

alex: she's living in severence and has quit softball. her and warren are over, her call. happiness. she's trying out school life and is doing really well. also she looks fantastic and is still a really great friend.

so that leaves you: how are you? i need to know.

look at your transition through the years:
first year

second year

now

my father's coming tomorrow to bring up some of my things and a roll of film that i need to develop of you from when we were at the museum. i will post them soon.

im sentimental as fuck. my period is coming i think.

oh and soums and rhea send their regards. i have a picture from my phone but it wont send to facebook so ill try some other time.

with all the love that i can give,

snaht

I'm sitting in this kind of dingy internet cafè and reading your blog and tearing up. It's a little pathetic. 60 is definately an age to look forward too- hello discounts and early bird dinners. I'm so sad I missed your birthday, but it sounds like it was amazing. I have an Italian cell phone now and I'm super pathetic because the only number in it is my rommate's (unfortunately, I purchased my phone after the group dissapated for the weekend). She seems nice enough. She went on this prequel trip before the semester started so she kind of alredy has her own friends, but she seems willing enough to let me tag along. My host mom is the cutest person ever and she definately likes me more than Kristen, which obviously pleases me. Your update on your life is amazing. I hope you took a picture of your nails. Tell evryone that I miss them also. I think that with classes starting on Monday, this is starting to feel more real and it's seriously weirding me out that I'm not at school with all of y'all. More to come soon.
All of my love (please convey my love in appropriate varying degrees to those you deem worthy),

Katie
